Hoffman Voltameter (STE 10790)

For demostration of the decomposition of water, determination of chemical composition by electrolysis and with applications in the evaluation of the electrochemical equivalent of hydrogen.  For the electrolysis of water, platnimum electrodes are used and for the electrolysis of ammonia and hydrochloric acid, carbon electrodes are used.  

The electrodes (available seperately) are mounted in rubber stoppers for insertion into the open ends of the voltmeter limbs.  This method, in addition to being convenient, obliviates the use of fragile connections such a platinum wire loops fused through the limbs.  The glass unit has two connected limbs, each of approximately 50ml capacity, integral with funnel shaped bulb, with stopclock at the top of each limb for use on 12V DC supply.  The standard voltmeter comes as a graduated glass unit, each limb 0-50, 0.2ml with instructions.
